PAW has staged a convention in Plymouth every year since 1983.   Here are a few pictures of the 2008 event, which took place over the weekend of February 2nd/3rd.  Special thanks to Clive Dudley and John Orange for supplying the pictures.

This page has pictures of some of the Trophy winning games.  Other participation and display games are on this page, and pictures of the Competition games are here.   Pictures of the Traders that supported the show can be found here.  Results of the Competitions can be found through the Results Page

Once again, a large number of people worked hard to bring display games of various sorts to the show.  We'd like to thank them all for their efforts, and we look forward to seeing next year's games

These are the games that caught the attention of our judges, and the winners of the tournaments.

The Bideford and District Wargamers won Best Demonstration Game with their excellent Siege of Gibraltar game.  Whilst the sheer size of the game itself was stunning, our judges were most impressed by the enthusiasm and knowledge they showed when talking to the public, as well as the obvious fun they were having.

The Best Participation Game went to Jamie, our youngest ever winner, for Dalek Assault.

Jamie ran the game all weekend, and it was popular with all ages and always busy.

The Eagles High group from Torquay were awarded the Best Painted Small Scale Army trophy, and came close to winning a trophy for their Peninsula War game, as well.

Warren Coleman won Best Small Scale Game for his 15mm Fantasy game using the Principles of War Experimental Fantasy Rules.

Dave Lewis was awarded Best Large Scale Game for his 25mm Ninja Assault participation game.

This was another popular game and was runner-up for the Best Participation trophy.

This year we ran a one day Under 16s Warhammer 40K Tournament.  At left, winner Stephen Foulds, and at right, runner-up Thomas Collier,  who has only been playing for a few months.

Thanks go to Games Workshop, Cross Swords and Wargames Illustrated for supplying prizes for this event.

The Warhammer Fantasy tournament was popular again this year.  At right, Paul Buller, winner of the Best Painted Army for his excellent Empire force.

Below left, winner Darren Watson, centre second place Colin Farrant, and right, third place Ric Myhill

The Warhammer 40K competition was the largest yet, with 36 players.

Unfortunately, we don't have any usable pictures of the presentation, but here's the winner, Robert W of the Callington club getting his trophy.

Below right is a group shot of the winners; Robert W (First), Will Robinson from PAW (Most Sporting Player), John Corps from GW Kingston (Second) and David McCall from GW Covent Garden (Best Painted Army)

Thanks go to Games Workshop and Cross Swords for supplying prizes for this event.

The 25mm Ancients competition was played in that friendly style only possible to players who have known each other for many years.

At right, winner Richard Jeffrey-Cook, and far right, Kevin Jackson took Best Painted Army for his Early Mycenaeans
