| On the weekend of October 2nd/3rd, PAW staged
another of our occasional Wargames Open Days at our regular venue, Blindman's Wood Scout
HQ.
There were between 25 and 40 wargamers present at different
times of the weekend, playing a wide variety of games. There
were games of Warhammer 40K, Warhammer Fantasy, WarMaster, DBM 15mm and
25mm, Principles of War Napoleonics, Vampire (RPG), D&D, MechWarrior,
Pirates of the Spanish Main and Star Trek ship combat.
Thanks to Clive Dudley for taking these pictures.

| A general view of the hall. There were about a dozen
standard 6x4 tables set up here, plus a few more in the surrounding rooms. |
 |
| There were a lot of Warhammer 40K games over the weekend,
probably due to the recent rules update. Here, Clive
Dudley's Imperial Guard set up to take on Chris Wingate's Space
Marines in a Cleanse Mission. This game resulted in a Victorious
Slaughter against the Space Marines! |

Stapleford's Necrons. |

| More pictures of the Guard vs Necrons
game. Note the dangly dice on the Sentinel on the hill. Some
people have too much time on their hands... |

|
| Ancient games using the DBM rule set were the
other popular games system this weekend. Here we see Martin
Binns' 25mm New Kingdom Egyptians against John Soper's Sea
Peoples. |
 |
| In this shot, Sea Peoples Warriors stand amazed
at the sight of a sacred Egyptian Cat pursuing a mouse across the
battlefield. |
 |
| John Orange with Alans faces off against Colin
Evans' Visigoths in this 15mm game. Colin's C-in-C's command was
broken, but he held on long enough to break the Alans for a 7-3 victory,
although only one more element loss would have broken his army as
well. |
 |
| Dave Lewis ran an excellent Lord of the
Rings game on Sunday. Gandalf is seen here leading a charge against
Goblins and Orcs. Unfortunately, they were supported by a Troll... |
 |
| Ken Hockley, Tanya Hockley, Nigel Blair, Paul
Dennis and Al Cox ran a large 15mm Napoleonic game over the
weekend, part of their on-going campaign. This was fought on a 12' x
5' table with hundreds of figures. |
 |
| Colin Evans and Nigel Kerr
provided some of the new WizKids Pirates of the Spanish Main ships
for people to try out on Sunday. This is a curious cross between a
collectible card game and a miniatures game, since the cards have press
out parts for the ship models. Every one seemed to enjoy it,
although the rest of us did get fed up with the cries of "Yo Ho
Ho" and "Avast There" |
 |
| Orlando Murrish ran this Star Trek game
using the Trek version of the Babylon 5 rules system. Here we see
Romulan ships attacking Klingons in an effort to wipe them off the
board. |
