| In December 2000 members Colin 'Smudger' Smith and Will
Harley ran an excellent Operation Sea Lion weekend at our then venue in
George Street. Here are a few pictures from the
event.

| Here's a view of the whole battlefield - roughly 6' x 24' of
scratch-built terrain.
There was a wonderful selection of buildings, bridges bunkers and
vehicles in use over the course of the weekend, almost all of it
scratch-built by Smudger or Will. |
 |
| Another view of the whole field, this time from the other
end. |
 |
| The British team writing their initial orders. |
 |
| The German team, with Will Harley, one of the umpires in the
centre (with the yellow quick reference sheet in his hand) |
 |
| Here are some of the German Invasion Fleet, laid out ready
for their assault.
The majority were scratch-built. |
 |
| Here are some of the assault craft in action. I've got
no idea what the orange markers were for... |
 |
| A close-up of one of the fast attack boats. The German
infantry in the background are survivors of a sunk assault boat who
managed to swim ashore. |
 |
| Some of the German troops, waiting patiently in their boxes
for their turn in the boats... |
 |
| German Glider troops attempted to capture the rear areas and
disrupt the British communications. |
 |
| German Armour landing from larger landing ships in the later
part of the game.
The landing ships were more examples of Will and Smudger's wonderful
scratch-builds. |
 |
| A side view of one of the scratch-built armed tugs. |
 |
| More German heavy equipment coming ashore. At this
point, the Germans were making progress, and the British couldn't get
their reinforcements to the front fast enough. |
 |
| A close-up of one of the German artillery pieces, giving
support fire from the top of the beach. |
 |
| Finally, British armoured reinforcements arrive, and
counterattack the German thrusts. |
 |
| Another view of the armoured reinforcements. The
church in the foreground was the scene of much fighting: although the
British are breaking in on the right, there are more Germans arriving from
the left... |
 |
| A view of a scratch-built Stuka, one of what seemed like
dozens of scratch-built aircraft in use over the weekend.
These were actually very effective models, and this picture doesn't
really do it justice, but seems to be the only aircraft shot I took that
came out... |
 |
| The boys themselves, Will Harley, and Colin 'Smudger' Smith,
who set up the Sea Lion weekend, and worked so hard to make it enjoyable
for all the players. Well Done lads! |
