Wargames Competitions have been a popular part of the PAW shows since 2000, and 2017 repeated the pattern.

Although some old favourites did not make an appearance, there was still a good range, and were plenty of marvellous models to be seen on the tables.

This year, there were three Ancients competitions.  There were events in both 15mm and 25mm for the well-established Field of Glory.

There was also a 25mm event for Arte de la Guerre

World War Two was represented by two competitions.

Flames of War was one.

Bolt Action was the other.

Fantasy had been planned to be covered by a Kings of War competition, but a low sign-up rate forced it to be cancelled quite late on.  As consolation for the local (and some not so local) players, the umpire, Kevin Shillito, ran a large game for them all.

As has been true for several years, the largest single competition was Warhammer 40K
